In the transfer contract there will be all sorts of other clauses, sometimes a club will have to pay an additional amount based on performance, for example, and then there's agents' commissions and other stuff like a fee if the player is sold on again.

Ribery, Benzema, Valencia and a top creative centre midfielder would be perfect. I just don't know of any candidate for that centre midfield role. Any suggestions?

Most Liverpool fans would never want the club to sell Gerrard because nobody could replace him at present.

I know this is probably an alien concept for you, Boy, but unlike Liverpool, United aren't a 1/2 man team. To identify a kid and get him for £12m and then get £80m for a player who hasn't wanted to be there for over a year is obviously good business.
In terms of his defensive deficiencies (albeit much improved this season) he was a liability, and unable to play with Berba, as you can't carry two luxuries in 1 team. Ribery would add that to the wing play. If we also got in top class striker for Ronaldo's money, then, again, it's good business.
The team last season was lacking in certain departments. Through good use of the available funds, United should be able to bring in the 3 or 4 top players to fix the problems with the squad and put us in an even better position than last season. Good business!

I find it hard to believe that United have not yet assured some important deals. If they sold Ronaldo before assuring those deals then it's an awful deal because they risk not getting the replacements they want or find themselves at a position where they have lost bargaining power.
