It was just like watching Beckham at '98 - arguably it was not a foul that warranted a card, but the matter of retaliation which made it a straight Red.

Edit: I'm not happy about hrough Rooney, and then the soft penalties. Galant Losers as always, hard done by as always.
That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it.

I think that the ref should have been the Mexican for the final, he had a great game in the semi and is well worthy for the final.

The ref that sent Rooney off should have given the foul before he trod on the Portugese's groin and would have prevented the following incident from happening. I think he was trying to let the game flow, but there's letting it flow and there's waiting till it's too late. I do think it was an accident and didn't deserve a red card.
The player's that ask for card's should be booked and warned by FIFA if they do it again they will be banned from the next game. That should hopefully start to stamp that out, pardon the pun. 😉

I don't think the refs in the semis even are eligible for the final. I think I remember hearing something like that in the last World Cup, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Will you be in favour of all English players that demanded yellow cards for alleged diving be booked and warned? What about coaches?

Who got a yellow card for diving?
I know there were plenty of candidates but did any actually get them?
Nobody had to demand the refs to dish out cards for ordinary fouls; but for diving they seemed very reluctant.

Some of the coaches were a disgrace too. 😞

Haha, I like the "alleged" bit.😀

There's the hypocrisy. It doesn't really matter, does it? Players demand the cards before they know if he's going to get it or not.

Again, the special status given to Ronaldo is telling.

I think he only gets special status because he succeeded [or at least contributed] in getting an opposing player sent off.

All player's, manager's, assistant's, press people linked to the official team, team official's and anyone else.

It needs to be stopped. It's driving me mental watching all the cheating that's going on so far in this world cup.

Have you been watching a different Portugal to me? In the semi Ronaldo went for a header in the box and was diving before the ball actually came over. It's nothing to do with English inability to accept the result.

Figo headbutts a dutch player in the game before (in which there were 16 yellows and 4 reds!!! but its ok because England are the dirty b**tards) and FIFA say "it's been dealt with by the ref. A bloody yellow card!!

Now Rooney is being hung out to dry because he wasn't cute enough.

The ref was useless. FIFA are useless. And Portugal have won as much as England for all their antics. Nothing.

I'm waiting for the Roonster to stick one on Ronny when they're back on the training ground! 😏

I reckon "Ronny" will leg it to Real Madrid or at least somewhere he'll feel safe. I don't think he would BE safe in the premiership.

I didn't lambast Portuguese players in my post about Rooney and England because it wasn't relevant to my point.

Regardless of what went before, Rooney should not have retaliated by treading on his opponents knackers.

The Semi and the Holland game have nothing to do with Rooneys discipline, nor England as a nation bemoaning our woeful luck once again. We make our own luck, or at least we would if we showed a bit of enthusiasm coupled with temperance.

Let's hope he gets it up the "Arris" before he goes! 😛
