Rubber Bands or Elastics? An Unofficial Poll

Hey All RHPers -

Was just talking with a friend here at work when he asked me for a "rubber band".... now, up on good ol' Massachusetts, we call these "elastics".... he commented that he wondered what other folks call them (he's from New Jersey and his wife is from Canada. He reports that in Canada, they're referred to as "elastics" as well).

Sooo, since this is a multi-country site - I'm taking an informal, unofficial poll....

Do you call them elastics? Or rubber bands? Or...???

Thanks.

Rekkies? Is that a name brand or something? I've never heard that before.

( okay, so maybe its monday morning and we don't want to do anything at work .... so? )

It's Afrikaans for the elastic band - 'rek' refers to the elastic effect - roughly translated it means something that is small and elastic 😛

That is a lie!

I just asked my wife 'What is in that box'?

She said 'Rubber Bands'.

She's obviously been brain-washed into the american way.

Shame really. This is a classic case of the unfortunate loss of cultures due to globalisation.
