Again a valid point, l suppose the alternative is not so good as you havea cosy 3 way coalition in place so anyone breaking ours is on their own.
Not entirely - two of your underlings are in our back yard - it would take no time for our cosy alliance to support them. :😉

Hi robot. Why is a two-way Ikko Ikki / Uesugi victory a foregone conclusion? There are other possibilities. For example, if I had enough land, I could bow out of the coalition altogether, content with my points, and let others claim victory. Or perhaps there will be an Ikko Ikki / Uesugi death-match. Or, more pedestrianly, there could be some sort of contest for third place...Use your imagination.

Both you and rwingett seem to have the same sort of chess-player's blind spot for the "illogical", as rwingett characterised Aquitaine's behaviour in MD. Or you're being deliberately obtuse, which is a respectable game tactic.

As for the rebellion you're hoping for--if all my allies rebelled against me, I'd more than likely go down--but I'd take at least one of them with me. The question would be which punk was feeling lucky!

So, where are we going to fight this turn?

To what end? Considering all the hot air that's been spent on how boring it is not to go for victory at all costs, I fail to see how they could comfortably contemplate cosying up to Kyushu.

From a few pages ago:

The math now says that no "third ally" will be selected. The most any vassal of the two great powers has in gold value is 197. The requirement of a three power victory is 1550 GPV; a two power only 1100 GPV. So the math goes like this:

Uesugi-Ikko alone: 1100 needed, 875 owned, 225 more needed.

Uesugi-Ikko-Third Power: 1550 needed, 1072 owned, 478 more needed.

I would add to that that no 3rd power is increasing at any respectable rate and several seem to have very little room to expand at all.

Except Kyushu. Plenty of room there for us all. Go South, young men!

You seem to be doing ok with your southern foray - you must have at least half of your vassal's lands!

You'll have noticed that I haven't annexed any of it. It's for the cause.

Shikoku's too small, though; I need space to swing that katana around.

You couldn't put everything against either side; there's transportation to consider as well.
I have an all-Japan season ticket.

If it's annexed to someone else yet you're the owner, no one gets any gold ...

Yeah, Takeda and Hojo can easily expand there.

There's nothing to stop them--apart from your formidable martial prowess, of course.

Blame it on my sunny disposition.

Shimazu wants his city back, by the way. He expects you to hand over the keys without any trouble.
