Great song, written by Ewan MacColl.
I heard that song the first time was at the Denver folk lore center and a little 13 yo girl sitting on the floor back to the wall started singing it acapela and she CAPTURED the whole place. That was in 1963. I will never forget that captivating performance.

"The First Time..." also appeared on an episode of Peyton Place, sung by some folkie in a coffee shop (the one that had Mickey Dolenz in it!). All of this much to my astonishment. 🙂
