Maybe you're right.
A joke isn't a joke over the net sometimes.

That would seem to be a little over the top bragging, so no, I would avoid it.

When my opponent makes a horrible blunder, I sometimes add " ? Am I walking into a trap here? ". Most people take that in good spirits, one opponent recently answered me, "No, it's just me being an idiot!"

No because 😏 is the good move smiley.

NEVER!

No smiley of any kind, that would be RUDE.

And you know how I love to use the smileys. 😉

I'd find it taunting and unsportsmanlike, bad manners, and equivalent of trash talk. Ruder still is when poeple refuse to talk duing a game, not even a simple hi!

It depends on how well you know your opponent. Some friends like to give each other a hard time.

When I make a blunder, which is often, nothing upsets me more when I discover it than to have someone apparently sneering or gloating in the message box. If it happens twice in the same game (the comment, I mean) I usually resign. If that makes me a weirdo, then so be it.

Of course! I am talking entirely about playing with a stranger. Between friends all sorts of taunts go on. Person I know best on RHP is one thing. And yet I try not to taunt him too much because he plays better irate!

Personally, it doesn't matter to me if people don't want to talk or even say hi for that matter.

There are days I don't feel like chatting either, just playing the game.

Having said that, I have had some interesting chats during chess games also.

I should have said I've been playing him for 4 years now. But he takes winning and loosing much more seriously then I do- so I wasn't sure how the 😀 would translate.
It's all cool anyway. I worry too much.
