Having said that, I have had some interesting chats during chess games also.

I think it is polite to say "I don't want to talk", but not ever respond is rude. I accept people sometimes prefer not to talk. I played one person who never looked beyond the chessboard and failed to see the messagethingy. Indeed there are some very good conversations during games.

It's all cool anyway. I worry too much.

You should have said that to begin with! Between friends it's OK. I'll sometimes ask a question about a move! I stay away from outright taunting.
