Thanks everyone for the thoughts, wishes and prayers. Here's an update:

If you don't believe in God, now's a good time to reconsider. I don't mean to prosyletize to you at a time like this, but if the tumour has metastasized, it means it has spread throughout some, or all parts of her body through her lymph system (I'm sure the doctors have told you this?), so we're talking life or death if that is the case: Surgery, of course, and then Chemo/Radiation therapy is the treatment of choice, and hopefully she can be cured by either, or both, methods. There IS a God, and He does listen to prayers...you have mine...good luck.

May be c99ux has PM'ed someone here.
This is a kind of bump of the thread, I know, but my main concern is the health of c99's wife.
I'm feeling down don't having news. I really hope that her health is going better, or at least stabilized.
Thanks anyway.

(If anyone wants to visit Yuko in hospital, and she does understand English, you're welcome: Saiseikai Minami Senri hospital, Minami Senri, Suita Shi, Osaka. She's in room 320. Mochiron, thanks for visiting her a couple of times these past few days. It was good to see you back in Japan.)
The good news is that we now know what's happened, what the situation is, and what can be done about it. That gives us both some relief, and we're not as worried as we were a few days ago. We had a long consultation with the surgeon yesterday (Sunday), he explained exactly what he's going to do during the operation, and how and why. Because the tumour is at the top of the stomach and the bottom of the esophagus, he will perform a total gastrectomy (stomach removal), and cut off about 4 inches of the esophagus. He will also remove the spleen because of suspected metastisis in the middle lymph node, and the gall bladder because he will need to sever the vegus nerve, which regulates said gall bladder. The operation will take about 6 hours, and is scheduled for October 10th, but if any other patients have their ops cancelled, Yuko will have it done earlier. She will stay in hospital until the end of October at least, but we both hope she will be at home for our 1st wedding anniversary on November 16th.
We haven't discussed post-operative treatment yet, but I will keep you informed now I have a little bit more free time.
