In my opinion, calling someone a "dick" is unsportsmanlike; how old are you -- 13? I've done nothing to violate the rules, nor have I bent them to my advantage. If your game where already won, then it would already be over.
Funny how you jumped to the conclusion that I was referring specifically to our game despite the fact that I had not mentioned it once in this thread. Feeling guilty?

As you know, in chess, many games are won before they are concluded. I would never begrudge an opponent for playing on and continuing the fight. After all anything can happen especially when you are the better player overall. However, I begin to wonder about that person's integrity and sportsmanship when they do so at a "radically" slower pace than what they had demonstrated before.

And yes I think that someone who would intentionally delay a game that they are losing just because they can is being a "dick". If you're not engaged in doing this then you shouldn't take my stance personally.

i agree, ive encountered some morons in speed chess. some of them try to annoy you just so you make a mistake. one guy like to type "gogogogog" when its my move, i find it doesnt take long to replyy "FU". ever get those idiots who go "m or f?", "what age are you?", and those ones who refuse to move when they are losing 😠

I find the practice of wishing your opponent "good luck" rather absurd. Like anyone really wishes that their opponent will win.
That's why I greet with : Enjoy!

I agree with people that hastening or artificial(mind!) lengthening is an annoyance. And yes it's not illegal.

i know, but tell myself that it is a positive statement because bad luck can spoil a game, - like when the telephone rings and i make a quick move that turns out to be a disaster

You agree with him and then make reference to: "and those ones who refuse to move when they are losing"

Heh, too funny.

Try reading the whole thread carefully.

I always say hello, even in 1 minute blitz. (I never have enough time and am so stressed I loose queens and rooks 🙄)

Good luck, and Good game are just nice things you should say. When I say this, I mean it. I enjoy games and I know every game has a winner and a loser... I ...[text shortened]... for the love of the game and doesn't resort to cheating so they can win more often.

P-
I don't believe you actually wish your opponent good luck in kicking your butt, and mean it, unless you fall into that group of people who like that kind of thing. 😛 I hadn't thought about that part ! 🙂

It didn't start with a "C" and end with a vowel ? LOL !
