My asthma medicine had steriods. It was a daily dose thing (in addition to the inhaler). Guys might like to bulk up, but looking like a balloon isn't really my thing, so I stopped taking them. I'd've been pretty scary had I decided to keep taking them and lift weights or some dumb thing!
Different kind of steroids altogether, and will not make you look like a balloon.
Although I gather they can have other side effects.

Your body produces its own steroids. In some cases, such as with multiple sclerosis, arthritis or lupus, you will be prescribed a steroid such as prednisone to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels. This drug also works well to treat autoimmune diseases.

In the context of this discussion, i.e. anabolic steroids, you may want to read up on them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anabolic_steroid

As to the legality - I believe anabolic steroids fall into the same category as most prescription drugs where it is illegal to possess, use, or transfer them without an appropriate medical prescription. Since they have medical uses but shouldn't be used recreationally.

As to why they get used - A long time ago, when I was about 23 years old, I got into working out, lifting weights etc. Now, I never took steroids, but I did take an unhealthy number of supplements including Human Growth Hormone. The reason? It's addictive when you start something and start seeing results, but then plateau. Your 'high' is created by lowering body fat percentage, building muscle mass, and defining the muscle that already exists. I think this probably goes for the body-building types as well.

P.S. - I never got to be some incredible hulk looking freakazoid, mainly because I quit when I got to be 198lbs. Now I'm thoroughly enjoying being a lazy skinny-fat waster. πŸ˜€

Softball?

Not here, not likely. Also because of that luggage- they can't walk, let alone steal third.

You are right, there are some women who go for that. I'd guess they're a small minority of women- the ones with no conceivable taste. It's like fellows chasing after Lolo Ferrari. It's just tacky.

Actually, I would argue that these fellows have no aesthetic sense of beauty- so when they imagine a perfect physique, they think the more drug-filled bulges the better. Obviously, they miss the point. I think the optimal male physique is that of the athlete. These fellows would sink in a pool, and lose a 100 metres to a one-legged sloth. No functionality, and I would argue, no pleasing appearance (quite the opposite).

I think mostly they are doing it out of a twisted narcissism. They probably have some massive complexes the are compensating for. But the only sport these fellows go for is bodybuilding competitions. They'd be bloody useless at rugby, I can tell you that.

Interesting. Sounds about right, law-wise.

Growth hormone! That sounds very bad news, mate. What did that do for you? Messing with your hormone levels has got to be dangerous, hasn't it?

I lift weights too. I'm 26 now. I do a day in the gym, cardio and then upper and lower body, all in one session. Then the next day I'm in the pool, where I swim 1 or 2 kilometres, depending on how I feel.

But the only thing I have added into my diet is a protein supplement- extract of whey, which I take every day. It seems to help, as my muscle mass has increased loads, and I'm roughly 3 times stronger than when I started this in the winter. Was doing better before the summer, then holidays and hot weather, you don't do that much gym, more boozing and chasing women to shed the excess pounds.

yeah, it was. it actually gave me some of the rage symptoms you'd normally associate with steroids.

my routine involved six days a week in the gym, upper body day one, lower body day two, cardio and abs every day. strict diet involving a minimum of 1.5g protein per pound of body weight, very little fat, and carbs restricted to a minimal amount in the mornings only. I took amino supplements, two or three protein supplements, more vitamins than you can shake a stick at, plus all the various once legal supplements like the HGH, that stuff Mark MaGwire got busted for etc.

Your butt must hurt, but you're looking good.

Do you take a horse tranqualizer when you feel the rage coming on... or are you thinking of the bovine steroids BBonds was using?

You wouldn't want that! πŸ˜€

steriods are an easy fix. with a doctors help you can take steroids but it comes at a huge price. steroids work well for a little bit and the short term effects are rage, acne and sometimes muscle tears. long term effects are lower testosterone when they stop taking them and their capilaries get hard and later on in life they are more likley to have a heart attack or few. arnold had 3 bypass surgeries. i know of one of the mister univers or whatever it is and he took steroids for a year. his testosterone level now is lower than a pubesent girl. although steroids sound good they will cause long term effects. but you dont need them there are plenty of other products on the market. i did track for one bottles worth and i was lifting 5 lbs heavier on everything within a week. within a month i was lifting 12.5 lbs heavier on everything else. some creatine is bad like monohyrdate and others are as well. just do your research before using a substance.
