Straw man thread

I have seen a lot of posts recently with posters accusing others of using straw man arguments. So please make sure each post includes at least one straw man to show why it is bad form.

This is clearly disreputable behaviour and many have argued that it should be discouraged. Part of me agrees with this.

However, now I am not sure. I mean, what kind of society have we become when we start to ban people from websites and censor them just for using straw men arguments?
