The thread makes no sense if the first post is removed, plus your asking mods to hunt and peck through a thread.
Also, you get the users who start complaining that only a few posts were removed, and the thread no longer makes sense.

Making an argument based on the thread not making sense has no foundation because when one outrageous post gets deleted half the thread doesn't make sense because half the thread was replies to said post. Also, all posts in a thread by a certain user deleted and the thread makes no sense yet it continues on a while after that.
