that's exactly what i was thinking. What our team should be:

Tresco
Strauss
Vaughan(sp?)
Thorpe
Pieterson (instead of butcher)
Freddie
G. Jones
Hoggard
Giles
S. Jones (maybe Jimmy Anderson; i always liked him)
Harmison.

that way we would have some serious batting power instead of people like ian bell. even key is better than him!!!

We didn't. Bell was always in. He was Butcher's replacement (or Key's). We picked Pietersen ahead of Thorpe.
Also, Bell has been excellent in the counties.

Well at 348/8 I said we wouldn't make 400, but Hoggy has just driven Warne for 4, and Jones hit Dizzy for 6 and brought up our 400!

Shame that we didn't have Thorpey in though to grind out a big 100. I know that in theory Pietersen was competing against Thorpe, but leaving Bellend out could have left the room we needed.

More than I'd have asked for 24 hours ago though - so quality!

Bell showed last season and again this season that he hasn't got what it takes at the top level. Meanwhile, your colonial import Pietersen continues to prove he's made of the the real stuff. If he had more support he would easily have gone on to a hundred.
