Shane Warne was the player of the series for me. He has displayed the passion and skill that made the series so competitive. Without him Australia would have been thrashed.
But it's nice to see English cricket back and confident - we need the game to be competitive.

Undoubtedly, Warne is top class. I do have to wonder where Australia will find a team able to compete, once Warne and McGrath have gone. You're never gonna find a spin bowler with the same calibre or a seamer with the same robotic precision. I for one am gonna miss Warne, he's been the backbone of cricket, both Australian and International for the majority of my lifetime. Farewell sir.
Originally posted by StarrmanTake a Warne and McGrath out of any team and they will struggle. It's not too long now that this Aussie team will be much weaker as most of the players are well into their 30's. Soon they will all retire at once and the Aussies will struggle (a depressing thought that is!) But that's how it is - just like the Windies were no good when all their great players retired.

McGraths and Warnes and Gilchirsts don't come along too often and will be sad to see them go.
But well played England - they deserved to win the series on this occasion.

They give those out like Chocolate at Easter, so my bet is on the New Years Honours list for the OBE or similar.
Freddie Flintoff will win the BBC sports personality of the year by a mile.
It's been an entertaining series, just hope we can see the same sort of perfomance over the winter. Pakistan and Sri Lanka (it is there and not India?) will be difficult, but it's good to see contributions coming from the entire team, not just relying on one player.
