IF the forums are boring, it is because WE are boring.
The forums don't exist in a vacuum. WE are the forums.
No one person or group made them boring. Frankly, they were boring when I got here.
If TSM is so boring, why do posters spend so much time in our threads. Almost every thread we start runs to 100s if not 1000s of posts. We may be a l ...[text shortened]... trary, I've noticed an unhealthy obsession with me and the TSM from quite a number of posters.
I honestly don't know the answer. Maybe, we should all get just 10 3 letter aconyms a month, because they are confusing.
The forums were better when funny and educated posts could be recognised and rewarded easily. For 4 years I used this site and very little abuse went on. Good posts were praised, or slated but if you loved the post you could reward it with a rec.
In the last 4 months, there seems to have been a big hullaballoo about Recs. Whilst Red Night always seems to be polite, I gather he or she wanted to highlight the inadequecies of the system. I don't think the current system as any better than the one that preceded it.
There is just less love and reward given. Therefore if you are less likely to get love and reward you are less likely to to try to impress. Consquently you get less impressive posts in the forums.

I used to be called a rec whore, but as I've always said, receiving a lot of recs (or responses) motivates me to write better stuff.
I flourish in a positive environment. If everything is negative, I just implode and watch Bond movies.

They also thought the forums were boring before they arrived but didn't think not to make the situation worse by adding their own inane drivel. The forums definately got worse after their arrival.
The forums have been here for a few years, the rec system was an integral part of the forums, the number of recs was largely meaningless, everyone knew they were just a number and yet they fought and campaigned to take that away. Why - because they didn't like them or is there a more sinister motive?
Next I think they should campaign to remove
1. The numbers of moves made by each person per month/in total.
2. The number of games won/lost/drawn
3. The public forums
After all what does it matter if a person makes 1 or 30,000 moves per month, it is just a number so like recs it is meaningless, therefore it should be REMOVED
The numbers of games won/lost/drawn is irrelevant. Does it matter to your opponent that you have previously won 2,000 games? No therefore it should be REMOVED
The forums are made up of meaningless posts and inane drivel and are largely irrelevant. Therefore they should be REMOVED.
By doing this RK and his mates will have won and can then move to another sites forums and continue the campaign in pastures new.
After all there are hundred and thousands of forums out there just waiting to be cleaned up and taken over.

Rec'd.
You know what really makes the forums dull?!
It's you lot constantly whining about it. If you stopped moaning and pointing the finger of blame at each other for 5 minutes, you just might realise it.
Yes, we all know the Rec system has changed. Yes, we all know some of the moderating decisions seem harsh or biased. You don't have to remind us about it every second post, whinging that it was way better before. Put your toys back in the pram and get on with your lives already... ๐

Wrecklessness leads to reclessness.
You only get 10 recs in 30 day period now. Previously this was uncapped. You were free to love and reccommend any post, without using all your love juice up.

Well, I never felt no lips on my arse, is what I'm trying to say with a slightly neglected air about me.
