I think it is partially because many blame me for the loss of their Rec Totals. For a surprisingly large group of posters adding to their Rec total seems to have been a major reason to post here.
The irony of blaming me and TSM is that Russ had been threatening to do this long before I arrived.
Perhaps there's just a changing of culture. For nearly a year there was a near consistant group of posters; people got used to each other's writing styles, etc.
Then some people stop posting for a while (or altogether), new members start posting and everything is suddenly different.
Maybe, just maybe, the forum isn't any more boring than it used to be, but some people perceive it as different from what it used to be.
Hell knows, last year I was complaining about the number of top 10 threads, the year before that I was complaining about the number of top 10 threads and I'm pretty much in the mood to complain about them now.
And, if you look at archives, you'll notice that every 6 months or so, people complain about the current quality of the forum.

What was wrong with rec totals? You see an extra rec or two then you go and find out which post got the rec, you might re-enter that thread. You feel slightly warmer because you have struck a chord with another member of this community.
I don't really care what Russ thoughts on the issue were before you joined, or are now. And I can deal with current the situation. But your perpetual going on about recs and rec totals leads me to think either you are against love and recognition or you and the plastic population are on some sort of power trip. What makes the TSM so superior?

I don't want to debate any further the merits or detriments of rec totals. I was one of many who were not in favor of publishing the rec totals. You, it seems, were one of many in favor of the published rec totals. You are entitled to your opinion and although I might disagree with it; I will, as always, defend to the death your right to express it..
Recs still exist and you are free to spread the love by giving them to posts or posters that you enjoy, like, or admire.
