I mean, what reason do you have to believe that something written such a long time ago is the truth? Are you actually aware of the fact that until ca. 100 AD, only the lowest social classes were christian? For Christ's sake (forgive the pun), the guy was an uneducated nomad who happend to have a gift for preaching, from what is historically known. How can you base your entire belief on the theory "if so many people believe it, it has to be true? If christianity is so great, then why had nobody really ever heard of it before Jesus Christ? How do you know Jesus was really so great? Not even the year of birth is really known... It was not 0BC, more like 7/6 BC. How can you be so sure of these things when the only written "evidence" was written much later? Did you know that even his family thought he was a nutcase? Who can be sure he wasn't? How do you know this wasn't some early form of scientology or something which exploded in member count by some freak accident?
Tell me... If I write a book, claiming some person who lived a while ago was actually the reincarnation of God... and the only way to get to heaven is to rob people and commit murder... will there also be people in the future who misuse online forums, trying to get us all to kill each other?

of people with beliefs are nuts or worse.
The condensation and elitist attitude in many of the posts whose sole
purpose is to insult people of faith is to inflame or smear them in my
opinion, and will only cause people of faith to react, why wouldn’t they
since are being insulted? You can go through these and other posts
and see that a simple conversation isn’t taking place as your posts
does; it insults and demands an action. The self-righteousness in
many of these posts is just as sickening in my opinion than
anyone “pushing religion” whatever that means, since
speaking about anything from lying, murder, eating, wearing cloths
can all be part of a religious conversation. If your mind is so thin
skinned it cannot help but be so negatively affected by any idea that
may have a religious foundation you’re going to be a basket case
before It is all said and done.

Firstly, I'll apologize to you because you feel insulted. The "nut"-part was not intended as a personal attack on you, I do not generally dislike religious people, no matter what religion they are. What gets on my nerves is people like RBHill being so self-righteous and claiming that only their opinion is correct and all others will go to hell. I'm sorry if I sounded arrogant, I was kind of pissed and I suppose I got a little carried away.
Anyway, I just wanted to say... this was not supposed to be a personal attack, I was just questioning how so many people can have... well, blind faith I suppose, in something they have no proof of.
All I wanted was an answer to the questions above. Like I said, I don't discriminate people because of what they believe in, I couldn't care less. I would attack RBHill and other people like him the same way if they were jewish, muslim or anything else, as long as they are behaving the way they are.
Personally, I don't believe in God. Maybe I have too little fantasy, who knows. If you guys are right, I'll end up in hell, then you can laugh at me, go ahead. It just puzzles me... no proof at all
I don't like religions because they are all so self-righteous and intolerant, claiming to be the only true religion. It just sux. No, wait, buddhism is kinda cool... I want to learn more about that, I think they have the right idea for my taste.
Anyway, KellyJay, once again: sorry if I conveyed a wrong picture of me, I did not mean to personally insult you.

some time has passed, and tell me if you see some
self-righteousness throughout your last too.
To begin with, blind faith is not what many of us have, some maybe,
but not all. You are still grouping us all into a little box and belittling
our views and beliefs. We view the world differently than you do,
because our foundations are different we have faith in God, and you
do not believe in Him so when we look at things we do it from different
perspectives. The truth of if God is real or not does not depend on
what either of us think, He is or He isn’t.
Self-righteousness is exactly the way it sounds, all the righteousness
one has comes from one's own self. With Christianity it is what God
gives us. This isn't an "I'm trying to push my views on you", I'm trying
to defend faith, because of the way you are talking about my religion
is describing it in a way that is not accurate.
Oh by the way, no worries between us. If this is the worst that
happens between us, we are in good shape. 🙂
