I've spoken to people who know him personally, and they all agree on this issue. I am playing him on a different internet site who's name I am for some reason not allowed to spell out as my post will then be auto-removed.

I actually do know no1 marauder offline, since Im his uncle, but I wouldn't expect anybody to take my word that he formed his opinion on solid evidence.
Russ required even stronger evidence, which the game mods provided. This is a crucial factor in the matter. You can disregard no1's data if you like and rely on his other friend's word, but you cannot find any motivation for Russ to ban your friend other than he was indeed caught cheating by the game mods.
The pity of it all is the reaction of nice people like you, thinking they are supporting a wrongly accused friend , when that friend not only is guilty, but is also guilty of betraying that friendship.
