Who's better, Mace Windu, or Yoda?
I personally say Mace Windu because he had the emperor beat until that son of *****, anakin Skywalker showed up, where as Yoda had trouble against the emperor the same day.

Anakin had premonitions that Amidala would die during the birth of their child. The Emperor used this to lure Anakin by telling him that he (The Emperor) knew how to bring the dead back using the dark side of the force and he would teach Anakin how to do this.
So if Mace killed the Emperor, then Anakin would not be able to revive Amidala so he had to save the emperor by killing Mace. This pretty much "sealed the deal" and Anakin crossed over to the dark side in doing so

I see several flaws in that theory, the main ones i will disuss below:
1. If the emperor had the whole thing planned out he wouldn't have given Mace Windu the opportunity to reflect 50000 Volts back in his face, he could have given up after losing the light sabre.
2. It is very unlikely the emperor knew what would happen for the following reasons
___A. He would have had to known Anakin would come and what Anikan would do.
___B. He couldn't have known what anakin would do when you consider that when he first arrives, Anakin is trying simply to dissuade Mace from killing the emperor.
___C. The only reason anakin cut off Mace Windu's arm is that he was going to kill the emperor anyways, which means that the emperor would have had to known what mace windu would do, which i find very unlikely.

He was just a bit unlucky, and got a bit over-excited after beating down and defeating one of the most powerful jedi masters.
