For me the answer would be Dr. Paul McCready. He designed the first human-powered aircraft to cross the English Channel.

But no doubt some of you shook more well-known hands than that.

I've met many famous musicians, but the most famous person I met was Mr. Mel Gibson. He's like 5' 2".

I love the guy, but isn't he a bit dim?😕

Perhaps, but I did not notice anything in our brief encounter that suggested such. Overall he simply had a pleasant demeanor and seemed like a genuinely upbeat kind of person. I didn't exactly discuss anything academic with him. I had happened to run into him in Kansas City during an FFA convention once. I'm not sure why he was there (he didn't speak during the convention or anything). Maybe he had a kid that was there or he is a big sponsor. I really don't know. I just happened to run into him back stage as I was preparing my presentation. He came over and asked me what I was doing, I gave a short explanation about the matter (quite frankly, I didn't even look up to see who I was speaking to for the duration of my explanation, being busy assorting papers and such. He was about the 50th person to make such an inquery that day. I didn't know who he was untill I had finished and looked up. ). He wished me well, we shook hands, and that was it. I guess it's a small world after all. 😉

Is that where you got the inspiration for a life in politics? 😉

I dunno if this counts, but I knocked over Sir Bobby Charlton after Manchester United v Tottenham, where I had 1 or 15 too many of the complimentary drinks in the Platinum Lounge. I guess helping him up could be considered a handshake.
