The voting's over, I thoroughly enjoyed this competition. I started to write opinions on each of the pieces of prose but I got carried away with my own pretension and had to alt-f4 immediately to save face.
Here are the final scores:
5: The Winning Entry, by XanthosNZ (24 points)
4: To My Readers, by Nordlys (27 points)
3: A Walk On White Lake, by Rosa Korgane (28 points)
2: Ophidian Unconquered, by Peachy (29 points)
1: The Floating Girl, by Starrman (32 points)
Congratulations Liam!
Well done to everyone for producing such fine pieces of prose.

And special thanks to the host, Mr. hopscotch for the effort in organising this.
EDIT; thats wierd, i didn't do that bracket bold /bracket thing.. and still shows as bold.. hmmm..
Congratulations, Liam! And thanks Geoff for running the competition once again, and this time even with a deadline - otherwise I'd never have participated. It was quite a challenge for me, both because I haven't done much writing and because English isn't my first language. A good learning experience. I joined TFC to get better at chess, but it also seems to help my English, writing, and photography skills.
Does anybody have any idea what that book by Quirinus Goldbaum was about?

As I said before, I would have said it was one of the Holy Books. I give up.. what was it about..? I was impressed by the prose (hence voting 1st for it). Well done Nordlys.
EDIT; (weeerd) you English is better than mine, and I have been here for 13 years! 😳
Originally posted by PeachyThanks. I have no idea what it was about, that's why I am asking. 🙂 Maybe you are right that it was one of the Holy Books.

By the way, I really liked your text, I just didn't vote for it because I couldn't see how it fit the theme of the competition. I still can't see that, even after the discussion about the meaning of "pretentious". Care to elaborate?
Originally posted by NordlysI saw that discussion and it did confuse me too. It was meant to indirect and obscure to its reference to pretentiousness. The Viper unintentionally created a false appearance by looking like the "feast her Heavens spoke to her about". Then created the illusion that he was "her lover". He didn't mean it, like we can be pretentious sometimes and not mean it.

We recognise it afterwards but some of us fall victims to desires at moments and see the world the way they want to see it. Refusing all signs of warning.
In this case, once the viper recognised the falcon's weakness, he took advantage. Like many of us sadly do.
But again, the topic can be interpreted in so many ways as we clearly witnessed.
Originally posted by PeachyAlthough I enjoyed reading most of the entries, yours was by far the most interesting one if anyone asks me. I've read it quite a few times now. 🙂
