The royal wedding was very elegant. While I'm a European in spirit, my American side says the royals, like the house of lords, have long since outlived there usefulness, and both institutions needs to be done away with. But hey...it's not my tax money paying for this, so if the Brit's are happy, let the joy be universal! 😏

Although I only watched the event on tv yesterday, I thought it was brilliant. The UK is the best place when it comes to historical events. We have the people, place and pomp & ceremony that is necessary to carry it off.
I am happy that we have a royal family. If our option was only to have a president, it would be a great loss.
Does anyone else think that David Cameron looks like Wicked Willie? Images can be Googled by anyone who isn't sure what Wicked Willie looks like!! 🙂

The majority of the wedding was privately paid for by families, sponsors, BBC and other media venturers, and not by the tax payer.

If the Royal family is of no interest and unuseful, why did over 2 billion people watch the event?

Sorry, but I strongly disagree with you. Historical events are of importance, and the heraldry of the British Monarchy is envied around the world. The English event went without a single hitch, and that in itself is admirable across the globe.
Tell me which rich star wouldn't like to be able to repeat such an event? They couldn't, as the English are the best at arranging such, because of the history and learning.

Charles and Andrew may have smeared the Royal Family in this era, yes, but this young man and lady will, for sure, re-institute what has been missing.

Let the world be happy with this event as all watched, and the reports are they did enjoy. Let this event be marked as new beginnings in a new positive turn for the Royal Family, and for improved worldwide international relations for England and the UK, and all Commonwealth countries.

Your American side/European side (which is obviously not British) does not and cannot comprehend what the Royal Family value is all about - you don't, and can't, understand the historical side of it, and what it means to be British/English.

Envied is a strong word. I would have said entertained- two billion tuned in because it was a glamorous event and a small peek into English culture for those of us on the outside.

Ironic that. There is a totally unsubstantiated and maybe untrue rumour about the alleged father of William's brother Harry, which is not totally rebutted by the physical similarities of Harry to the one and dissimilarity to the other potential fathers.
You must be reffering to the fact that Harry is the spitting image of Major Hewitt, who was one of Princess Di's lovers and is obviously Harry's real father, and looks nothing like that pathetic clown Charles.

I never saw much of the media frenzy but I wish Prince William the best and hope he has a long and happy life with his bride.

The royals have always supported our community. From the queen making visits while I was growing up to Prince Edward at one of our local schools. He even presented me with a prise for winning a running race as a child and had my photo in the paper shaking his hand. It is easy to support people who have taken the time to support you. 🙂.

But the day was about William and Catherine and their marriage. But if people insist on raising the issue of Prince Harry's father, has anyone looked at photographs of Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer. He was very similar to Harry at his age, and the red hair is in the Spencer family. In my opinion, William looks like Diana, and Harry also has her family's genes.

Calm down now. I'm not judging anything here. If the Brit's want to do this sort of thing, that's just fine with me. Besides...Kate's sister is a cutie!😀

Come on, now...there has never been any suggestion that Dianna had sex with her brother.

Get rid of the Monarch and the Lords? Completely unthinkable. I mean, if you do that, whoever will keep those *cough*cough*cough* in the Commons in check? I wouldn't trust the non-elected Lords as far as I could throw a rock at them, but sheesh, I wouldn't trust those career psychopaths in the Commons (or the bought and appointed Lords, who are much the same) as far as I could throw them at the rock. Seriously. A sane country must have someone to keep tabs on the career politicians.

I blame you, you were the ones that shipped over William of Orange
and started the whole thing off again.
