Marvellously well organized event. Pomp, elegance, no skin, no tats. Showed Hollywood what class is all about. Wonderful music throughout. Happy couple. Weddings like this one come along once in a generation. The historic perspective lends the event an aura missing from American life, by choice(and we would have it no other way), since we have only those who are declared as monarchy wannabes by a doting mainstream Yankee press despite being descended from bootleggers(the Kennedys).
The majority of the wedding was privately paid for by families, sponsors, BBC and other media venturers, and not by the tax payer.
If the Royal family is of no interest and unuseful, why did over 2 billion people watch the event?

I begrudge you Brits your monarchy not at all! Pageantry at its best is what was on display. I believe the UK gets thier money's worth from any taxpayer expenditure on maintaining their royalty. Jolly good show, chaps! As you say, the world indeed was happy at the tune of two billon's worth watching!

English Bob: I mean, why not shoot the president?"

All but five of them are mistaken, and of those five, one is already prime minister, one is brother to the leader of the opposition, and one shares the latter's first name and party membership.
