Yea, well you know how I am. I always like a good rummor. And even more entertaining is a conspirisy theory. So I thought I would start one. What good are friends if you can't abuse them.πŸ˜‰ 😡

Ah well, but you shouldn't do that to belgianfreak. If we aren't nice to him, he might become like some other moderator(s).

You were accusing him (jokingly) of calling me a whore, which wouldn't really be the behaviour I'd expect of a moderator.

I don't think moderators do a good job if they ban people without a warning for something the poster couldn't know to be wrong, but maybe you see that differently.

Well actually, I was joking but just to try and lighten things up a bit. And you are right about the banning thing. I know nothing about that though. Only thing I did know about was the banning of that other thread. Which didn't bother me one way or the other. But the choice of words did surprise me. But I respect the fact that he at least gave a reason after he closed it. But I wanted to mess with you some too cause you always forget to say hello. πŸ™‚

I don't make the rules; obfuscation of a swear word is not allowed any more than swearing is. Can you explain how, by your defenition of 'feck', how "feck off" makes any sense? If not the only explanation as to why it was used in the context you used it was as a 'accented' swear word.
Surely you can't be serious! People use obfuscations of "the f-word" all over the place -- in fact I just did! You certainly aren't attempting to mod these. "WTF" is used all over the place without any moderation. And if eff or effing was moderated then this poor guy User 197350 couldn't get in a word edge-wise -- and don't get me start on User 77784.

And even if you were attempting to do this, how on earth could you possibly hope to pull it off? What if I was telling a story about a terrible hunting accident and somebody was sh*t and killed. Was that a obfuscated swear word? Or not?

And what about @#$% or *&$% or @$^%! One of those was an obfuscated swear word... ..or was it?!

So what point are you getting at? Should everyone just be allowed to swear as much as they want?!

Thread 46984
And?!

I curse and obfuscate swear words all the time. I'm sure if you carried on dredging through my Public Forum Posts, you'd be able to find at least 10 examples of me doing so every single day! The difference is that, unlike some people, I don't whinge and moan like a baby when my posts are deleted, or start up threads to kick off arguements with the moderators about it.

I'm not criticising leisurelysloth's opinion, I just don't understand the point of it. To me, the way he's highlighted the fact that modding obfuscated swear words is almost impossible suggests that he thinks it shouldn't be done at all. Which is why I asked him what his point was and if he was suggesting that everyone should be allowed to curse and swear as much as they want.

What part of that have you got a problem with?

And there's the subjectivity factor again - I find "retard" a lot more offensive than the f-word.
another issue and even harder to address. Should and how could 'rudeness' be controlled? If you have solid arguments that it should and ideas on how it could be implemented I'd be very interested to listen. Probably best discussed in a different thread though.
