Just because you belive in a religion I do not believe you should force that belief on your child, therefore if you are ill you can refuse treatment on religious grounds as it is your life and you are entitled to live it your way

This is straight up and down child cruelty by neglect. There is no defence, legal or moral, to causing or allowing the vulnerable be harmed or die, as a result of any belief system.

I'm not a major believer in modern medicine and I do think a parent should be allowed to determine how their child is treated to a certain extent, however, children have the right to refute the beliefs of their parents and it shouldn't just be up to the parents in matters of health, life and death regarding their offspring. There is such a fuss over abortion, but it seems once a child is born everyone forgets they have righs other than what their parents see fit.
In most circumstances this is fine as most people have their child's best interest at heart, I guess it's not an easy one to call
