It's not the rules I'm disputing -I just think we could be informed somehow.
I seem to remember that a 'message-in-place-of-a-removed-post' system was to be implemented some time.
Just seems like basic manners to me, plus people would get to know what is and is not acceptable here........one day one thing is ok- next week it's not ok.
then I would suspect that it isn't appropreate for the forums either.
