I don't see one Chuck Berry, Elvis, Beatles or Led Zeppelin album on there. You figure that if you're going to make a list of the most influential rock albums of all time, more than one would have been made before 1970. 😕

That's the one! What about the rest? Where's Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm?

The Stooges should be on that list, as they inspired a lot of the early punk bands of the seventies who went on to influence everyone else.

The Sex Pistols should also be on that list although I'm not sure if their album moved as many people as their live show. Apparently the myth goes that Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths, Joy Division and The Buzzcocks were ALL inspired to start their own bands after a Pistols show in Manchester in '76.

VU is a good choice for no. 1

I would might also add the Pixies to that list.

Those are all good, but take out Beastie Boys and Radiohead and replace them with anything Elvis or Beatles.

Radiohead deserves that spot.

I've never felt that U2 was very influential. More like...smelly piles of crap. 😕

Ya I wasn't too sure about the beastie boys but I was around when Licensed to Ill came out. It was kind of a joke album at the time but it turned a lot of white rich kids onto rap/hip hop. It wasn't too long until that style of music gained popularity and I wonder if it had been left to LL Cool J and public enemy whether or not white kids would have embraced it...and more importantly bought the records giving record companies the cash to sign future acts.

I've heard people say if it wasn't the BB's then it would have been someone else because the Hip Hop movement was already on its way. Tough call.

I'm not sure about the rest of them (still building my collection), but just for future reference, the Nirvana album isn't SLTS, it's called Nevermind. SLTS is the most over-played Nirvana song out there, and isn't the best song on the album, imo.

Wow, I didn't even catch that.

OK Computer is a fantastic album - my favourite on that list. But most influential? I haven't noticed too many band copying that sound.
