Obviously ABBA has brilliant albums, but I don't know if they inspired anyone the way "My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows" by T-rex has....

Dark side of the moon is a great album. Yes.
But, it also has various weaknesses, obviously discluding it from a top album...

1. The lyrics are rubbish (I would have put this a little clearer, but censorship stops me from doing so, needless to say though it had to do with bodily excrement).

2. The sound is polished. What? Polished? Yes. So completely polished it shines like a crazy diamond, which, incidently wasn't even on that album...

3. "Animals", "Wish you were here" and "The wall" were better albums. Although I would even go as far to say that "Umaguma" better was...
Better tunes, less polishing, better solos and FAR better lyrics.

So, if any Pink Floyd album should be in ANY top then, it's not the commercial "Dark side of the moon".

In fact, I'd even go so far to ask: "Is there really a dark side of the bloody moon."

SWANS "Filth" was very influential to a certain spectrum, as was Throbbing Gristle's 20 Jazz Funk Greats.

Agreed. DSotM isn't my fav Floyd album either. I like Animals much better.

You forgot Meddle (maybe you didn't forget).

I actually LOVE the A-side of Meddle (or the first half if you're into the whole CD malarky).

The last song though... yeah... cool... but it drags on a bit...

That's a pretty reasonable excuse. I have to admit.

Good on you!

Well put.

Favourite PF works:

1) A Saucerful of Secrets.
2) The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
3) Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (not an album, I know)

Shav wouldn't know good music if it smacked him in the ear. Anyone that's into Bruce Springsteen, Abba and Boney M and has an opinion he wants heard on Pink Floyd should be made deaf by piercing his ear drums with a gramophone stylus.

Meddle is my personal favourite PF album. Actually, it's the only PF album that I never tire of.

Echoes is brilliant. I hesitated to include Meddle there in third spot, but since the live version in Live at Pompeii is so good, I decided to put that one instead. Have you seen this video?

I don't like any PF from DSoTM (including) onwards .
