A little hypocritical to be complaining about belligereance under the circumstances wouldn't you say?
And besides, I thought getting rid of the recs was supposed to eliminate this sort of behaviour, hmmmm?

Or were you talking about getting rid of all of the old wrecks?
Originally posted by PocketKingsYes, you're absolutely right. There were some well-earned recs that people lost because of this whole thing. BUT...let's say something went wrong with the server and files were erased and everyone's recs disappeared. That wouldn't bother me in the least. I'd shrug it off like a rainy day. "Oh well, whatever."
The more i think about it the more I don't like this. Seriously, this is giving in to all the babies who cried and cried. There are good, solid posting members who lost a crap load of earned recs. And for what? For all the idiots who couldn't stand it that someone had a higher number next to their name, or that someone had more friends here then they did. I guess crying to get what you want works sometimes
The thing that really pisses me off...the thing that fills me with hatred, shame and disappointment is that RHP caved in to Red Night's demands. Does anyone really think he cared at all about making this site a better place? It was obvious from the start, that it was all one giant ego trip. "Let's talk about me, me...ME!"
In my mind, Red Night is the Ralph Nader of this site. For those of you who don't live in the US, Ralph Nader is a big loud-mouthed egomaniac, who thought he'd prove a point and feed his giant ego by running for President of the US back in 2000 (Gore v. Bush). So Nader runs for President, and a bunch of liberals vote for him. Nothing against liberals (I was actually doing some volunteer campaign work for Gore at the time), but these are people who would have probably voted for Gore, had Nader dropped out of the race. Nader knew he'd lose, and he knew his candidacy could determine the outcome of the election, but he had to make his "statement". Well, what a statement that was. Bush barely won the Presidency, we went to war with Iraq and now look at the mess we're in. Thank's Ralph. Thanks to you and your giant friggin' ego.
A couple of people made some good points, saying that recs are now more valuable and that now we're all on a level playing field. I guess that's true. On the other hand, I don't feel much like giving anyone a rec now that I know that some whiney newcomer can step in and take it all away.
I can't think of anyone on this site who is more deserving of the title, "rec whore" than Red Night. Nor can I think of anyone who has spawned so many other rec whores.
Congratulations Red. You won. I'm absolutely disgusted.

Congratulations Red. You won.
Also, I don't look at this as a personal victory or a victory for my clan, I see it as a victory for RHP. It's a win-win for everyone, particularly that vast Silent Majority of decent, chess-playing, fun-loving, RHP users who were sick to death of the rec-whores and forum bullies that used to dominate this site.
We've come a long way TOGETHER and I say let's not treat this as a dividing issue, but a uniting issue. Let's keep the momentum going and collectively we can make RHP all that it should be!
