So recently my mother-in-law gave my wife and I something in a big old beer cooler. We emptied the cooler and I immediately snatched it away and put it in our bedroom. She said, "I was going to get rid of that...or give it back", but it was this super-sweet old skool Pabst Blue Ribbon cooler. She thought it was an eyesore, I thought it was a highly desirable eyesore. Unfortunately, no pics available, since I recently lost my camera. 🙁
Another item I treasure, but my wife seems to dislike is this:

(actual photo taken in my house)
It's a real cobra in a bottle of wine that we acquired a few years ago from a friend who went to Viet Nam.
Tell me what items you have in your house that you and your significant other (or a potential significant other) might disagree on.
Ok, go.

Poor snake.
We're vegetarians now (not because of the snake, just because). I wouldn't condone that sort of thing, but what's done is done and it is sort of beautiful/fascinating. As I said, it was a gift I got a few years ago.

Did you know Tarantulas live upto 30 years? One of my Tarantulas is 18 yrs old. She has molted 15 times and is very healthy! I expect many more years of joy with her! 😀
Originally posted by mikelomI know that the one you refered to is she because you use the word she. But you said tarantulas in general not female tarantualas live to be 30. I had one before I can't remember the Genus species of it any more(it was a long time ago) but it was the kind that you had to put food into its tank through a funnel because it was dangerously fast. Anyone know what kind that is?(if the description was to vague then I understand)
Correct! She's female. I have Mex Red Knees mainly. Three Baboon and 2 Bird. Charlie is Mex Red Knee - 18yrs.
Originally posted by tomtom232I didn't say in general. I said Tarantulas. If highlighting a female was missing then I apologise. They are all fast! But when they know you and sense it is you then they don't feel threatened and attack. I openly put crickets by hand next to them, and they don't attack.

However, African Tarantulas are a different ball game, and that's probably what you had. They don't like disturbance and will often raise in attack if you are in there for too long. One of those I would not carry on my shoulder, like I do Charlie, who is very big, amongst others. 😉
Originally posted by mikelomI mean wickedly fast! when you drop the crickets in it usually got there before they hit the ground. I know you didn't say tarantulas "in general" what meant was you didn't specify females but you already adressed that in your post so no matter now.

My delight about keeping such interesting and awesome pets is answering the door on a Sunday morning to the Jehova's witnesses who refuse to not stop knocking. I ensure Charlie is crawling down my arm as I do. Works a treat! 😛
