Also Ewido is another anti-spyware package that allows a month full use for free. It claims to have a half million definitions but its about the same level as Spy Sweeper, which lately is coming in at about 150,000. The differance is spy sweeper groups together like types while Ewido lists them all separately but they are at about the same level. Even so, I run Ewido, Spy Sweeper and Trojan Hunter and find each one digs up differant stuff. Also AVG anti virus is good for thirty day trial including updates for free.
The bottom line is you cannot depend on just one brand and think you are safe. Use several, including the free version of Ad Aware SE and Spybot Search and destroy which is always free, but they ask for donations. Good luck.
