Right above you find 'forum list, thread list, new thread, etc. So try this:
As a hand/eye co-ordination thing, take the mouse arrow and try to run it up the exact center of the thread list/new thread line. Get the mouse arrow all the way from the bottom of the line to the top without turning the words red on either side. It turns out there is a VERY fine line you can follow and not activate either box. See if you can do it!
