If Theo Walcott was there, Boro would have won it. Simple as that.

I've said this for years. As you say, it doesn't matter who comes in and what credentials they have, the carpet always gets pulled from unerneath them. So I give up trying to support them because obviously, not even the newspapers in their own country does.
I'm not sure how the papers treat the football team in Italy, but I'm sure it can't be as bad as this. 🙁

Doesn't matter how good the boss is, its the men on the pitch that decide the result.

Putting the best manager in the world in charge of Rushden & Diamonds won't get them into the Premiership.

Here newspapers do the same as yours with club teams but they don't even dare to treat the national team, or its coach, the way they are treating Svennis and his team.
It's plain stupid and counterproductive, at least they could wait till Svennis' job is done, for **** sake!
The first opponents that the England team has is its own journalists, go figure.

I think it's cultural, in part.

Anglo-Saxon countries tend to be more critical of self and Mediterranean countries tend to be more critical of others.

That's why when it comes to clubs, Mediterranean people love to read what's going wrong about the other clubs, but when it comes to the national team they don't like open critics as long as a good result is still possible. We'll deny failure until it hit us in the face.

Bollocks, the truth is that England is the mother nation of gossip and the vast majority of people in that country prefers to read about Svennis' love stories than the report of the game.

Bollocks. Even football fans are critical of Sven, not just their grandmothers.

All I care about is: how is Schwarzer? Did he play and is his cheekbone still intact?!
