a rec is a recommendation. if you like a post, you rec it. you can see a list of all the most recced recent posts under your "number of games waiting" button on the forum pages.

as to why there is no running count well, my friend, that is a biiiiig question and boils down to...lots of things! from spam to bullying and everything in between...
