Unwritten Code
Unwritten Code in any social context, especially an internet global village, seems far more fluid/dynamic than ironclad. Taken one lad quite awhile to grasp this now obvious principle, which plays a definite role in governing our contemporary life and times. Practical applications appear to include: pay close attention to the daily ebb and flow, what's going on or down; think twice before dismissing cultural differences, contrary opinions, unique communication styles; avoid repeating yourself at all cost or at least give your firm opinions a fresh slant; respect evolving norms & standards whether you happen to agree with them or not; when in doubt be gracious in reply. Thanks, Catfoodtim, for attempting to clue me in many moons ago. What else is there to know?

The post that was quoted here has been removedGood morning to you as well, Smaug. Gotta tell you that with all the unbridled change and chaotic upheaveal
around the world these days, it's somewhat comforting to realize that some things still remain just the same.

Specialized (and all new, internet related) social situation, with its own precise mores and expectations.
Is it ok to use people's real names if they never did in the forum?
Is it ok to tell other people real names if they shared it with you through a PM or Private Forum?
Is it ok to insult people based on their occupation or location in the public forums if they shared that info in a PM or Private Forum?
Is it ok to make fun of someone's clothes based on assumptions when you don't know their real name, location, or occupation?
Is it ok to create several threads as 'experiments' for a community you are (are?) part of trying to solve the problems you perceive with said social group?
Is it ok to pay more attention to your own threads rather than participate in all threads available to you?
Do your own threads interest you more than the threads made by others?
When you create a thread and no one responds do you bump it with a suddenly found 'after thought'?
When someone doesn't agree with you, do you suddenly change your mind about them? ("I thought you were better than that, now I know better" ).
Do you feel when people have a problem with your behavior it's actually the other person who's got the problem?
When a user here at RHP makes it clear they'd rather not associate with you, do you flock to their threads and posts to respond time and time again?
When you PM message users, do you ask them lots of personal info?
When you admit you made a mistake or forgot a point, do you blame it on old age or health condition?
