Alright the problem is how do you put a new video card into a computer before i go and waste my money on a new card, is it neccesary to be a complete computer whiz kid or is just a matter of sticking it into some drive
any advise on a good gaming card because my old nvidia geforce 5500 is starting go out of date, and what cost is it, i amn't a subscriber for an obvious reason so no suggestions about the nvidia 8 series cos i don't have over 600 euro to waste on a new video carrd for a pc - i'd just buy a PS3

1) Open up the tower or outer case. May need a screwdriver for this, though some computers have knobs which let you unscrew the outer shell.
2) Touch the metallic framing that makes the box shape inside the plastic cover to discharge static.
3) Unplug card.
4) Plug in card.
5) Reassemble case.
At least, I think that's how it works. I'm no expert though.

If there is no AGP slot [or no PCI Express slot] I would get a newer computer.
Vid Card just needs enabling in the BIOS - any specific settings would normally be in the documentation that comes with the card and the drivers.
I see nothing dangerous in what has been suggested so far.

If I was to follow his instructions (which you stated were simple) to the letter, would I end up with a better, faster graphics card in my base unit?
Let me answer for you, no! I would not.
Why?
Again, let me answer, you have already pointed out that there are other points that need to be considered. The most asked question I get mostlyyyy asked by punters who have tried to self install a graphics card is, I plugged my VGA cable in and the screen is blank.
The reason is they have not made the BIOS alterations required (most folk only upgrade graphics cards when they find that their cheap all-in-one motherboard graphics cards are not up to the job, which I believe not to be the case in this situation.)
How can I get away with charging £120 for something that is that simple????
It is incredibly difficult and requires lots of very expensive training and equipment to perform.
I must now take a rest in a darkened room.
