you moron! that is exactly what saddam wants you think! bush and blair have possibly created an enemy roughly 1/3 of the worlds population through their rashness. however this is not a religious war and people that think that are as ignorant as the people that believe the war is just

All I can say is Bush moves in mysterious ways. Who knows what drives a mad man (or those who control him).

Jihad is a war. Only difference is that islamic people believe its holy and just war when they call it jihad and that they will get to "heaven" when they die... But it's still a war. what ever you name it.

A Jihad is not a "holy war". I watched this documentary by Prince Naseem Hamed, and apparently Jihad means enlightenment.

The difference in meaning depends on your perspective.

Precisely, so you admit that the Western world do not perceive Islam in the intended perspective?

what ever you determine it to mean, then you should use it properly too. If this is not war but "enlightenment", then you better explain that comment. How is it enlightenment?

And yes, im not arab, so I have no right to say what kind of connotations a word might have. So I only stick to what i been said it means...

Absolutely. I may not agree with Islam, but I cannot deny that many people pass judgement without the knowledge of what the intended purpose is. I think the same can be said about any religion, but in the Western world there is excessive misrepresentation of what the ideals of Islam are. The actions may be percieved as a "holy war" to someone who does not follow Islam, but to a follower it is, as you say, enlightenment.

on the subject, has anyone considered comparing the war to an act of terror?
Terror is for those who aren't strong enough for full-scale oppression. If Islamic extremists were really powerful, they'd invade the US and force everyone to convert to Islam, just like Europeans rammed Christianity down the throats of Native Americans. But they're not, so they can't, and instead they commit acts of terror to make themselves out to be powerful. Bush is doing them a great service when he uses words like "war on terror" and "axis of evil"; this suggests that terrorists are somehow on a par with countries in terms of economic and military might. Be thankful that your enemy is much, much weaker than you.

Heh, I like that. Turning the tables so that Bush is the one calling Jihad. 😉

But if you put it that way, sure Id agree. He thinks he is doing that (or at least using it as a nice cover for his operation), calling Jihad on Iraq and Saddam.

What about the word 'crusade'? I think Bush might have used this word once when talking about fighting terrorism. Now Bush might not be the brightest of world leaders, but please, this word basically means 'war in the name of Christ' 🙁

Well, Bush IS calling this war in the name of everything he can think of, Democrazy, freedom, peace, safety... So why not add Christ too. Maybe he will find a way to justify the war if he goes thru enough options.
