I haven't seen "Black Hawk Down". Maybe I will have to now. "Behind enemy mines", if it's the one I'm thinking of (Meg Ryan dies?) gives a great insight into just how confused a battle really is, and how different people react & see things differently.
Meg Ryan was in Courage Under Fire with Denzel Washington. Very good movie.

Has anyone mentioned Saving Private Ryan?

I think they would rather capture him. Is it still against the American Constitution to kill foreign leaders as policy?

Haven't you heard? The Constitution (or at least the bill of rights) has been superceded by the Homeland Security Act.

That prohibition is not, and never was, in the US Constitution.

It is not in the constitution. I think the point he's trying to convey is that through the homeland security act there are few (if any) laws that can't be swept aside in the name of "fighting terrorism". For the record, I wish to state just how badly this bothers me. I'd say what I think about it, but it would upset some people. So, I'll just say that it is my opinion that there should not exist anything that can surpass the constitution of our country. Without the constitution, we are not free. If we do not live free, then terrorism has won.

on the subject, has anyone considered comparing the war to an act of terror?

I have. It is my opinion that there is little to distinguish between the two. 🙁

sure. LEts talk about 911. Afganistan was already ravished due to that. Now a second contry is going to be in rumbles due to it. thousands of innocent people are dying in other countries due to it. Is that right?

I hate terrorists and what they do but what USA is doing now is pretty much the same thing that was done to them. Only worse plus they are openly telling that they are going to do it...

"Peace is not just the absence of conflict, it is the presence of justice"

the sign of a civilised society is a) peace and b) democracy; not where the leader feels that it is his perogative to ignore his people when he chooses mentioning no names bush and blair

*ignore the spelling mistake!

Good quote. Very appropriate. I have always heard it as "Peace is not the absence of conflict, but rather the ability to handle it". I'm not sure which I like better. Don't worry about your spelling. There are people much, much, much worse at the English language (not mentioning any names *cough-Bush-cough*). 😉
