We call it paw-paw down here, but who eats the leaves? I think people sometimes wrap tough cuts of meat in the leaves and that helps with tenderizing it. Pectin is the ingredient in the leaves that helps.
The papaya itself is excellent at tenderising meat, just add a little water with the papaya in a blender to make a thinkish paste and spread it over the meat. Greatness fruit on the planet.

American cheesecake.

(A thin slice).

Pickled herring salad. It’s a superfood, just like the humble sardine.

I started back on the oily fish 4 days ago, what a differences to my energy levels and mood! All of those rich Christmas foods were putting me in a near coma.

I eat lots of that myself. Herring, sardines, tuna, with chopped onions, tomatoes, peppers [hot or sweet], and lemon / lime juice. Canada also makes smoked herrings but I think its mostly exported. Not sure if it is available in the US or Canada. But it makes a delicious meal. All enjoyed with homemade bread - pure whole wheat, flaxseed, oats and olive oil. Delicious healthy stuff.

Heard walnuts and other nuts as well, is good for brain function. Started eating more nuts about a year now, but I seem to be resistant to that ...lol . Eating it anyway.

I worked with a doctor who ate loads of almonds. She suggested I soak them in water first which plumps them up and makes them taste fresher. Ever tried that?

Oh, she was pretty smart too 🙂

Good idea. Going to try that. I stopped eating almonds because they are too hard.

Buy the plain cashews and roast it yourself. It tastes better than the preroasted and pre salted ones.
