I have been losing a lost of games because of a crapy starting move. what do you think is a good starting move?
That is bisics on some openings, and reading EVERYTHING on that site should make you a much better player if you want to put some time in. Learning how to mate is just as important, as is every separate aspect of the game.
P-
a3 is a perfect starting move. It prevents the future invasion of b4 from the black's queen knight and also maybe king's bishop can pin your queen knight so? Why not play this excellent move?
''1.a3'' is the best by test. R. James Stoner
and the next move you can play a4 and then a5 followed by a6 if you arelucky enough not to get checkmated by your opponent 🙂
Leave the joke beside, but I seriously believe that any first move is good besides h4 and a4, a3 and h3 g5 and f3. Do not worry about your openings so much. Focus on endings and tactics.
The best moves in order. e4, d4, c4, Nf3 etc....

Originally posted by katty1.c4 is a pretty good flank opening but if you are starting out chess I highly recommend 1.e4 for tactical reasons. 1.d4 is a pretty safe one to start a chess game. It is so safe that next move you can play c4 almost without no risk.
I play 1.c4.. I believe it's a good one
But probably 1.e4 is the strongest beginning move on the board if you might agree. I rarely play 1.c4 since it is not very dominating and it often lets black have an easy game. This is what I believe still all the moves are pretty good exepth the ones I mentioned earllier.
