Yes I know. Lyrics are the words to a song. But what is one lyric? A word? A line? If someone asks you for five lyrics to a song, what do you give them?

If someone asked for 5 lyrics to a song I would give them a marillion consecutive words from the song.

A lyric would actually be the whole song. People incorrectly refer to them as lyrics. A lyric is the story that goes with music (think opera) so if it's the whole story (in the Nibelung the whole story of Brunhilda and the Valkyries would be the lyric.) If it's the whole story, then it's all the lines and words in tat story - it's changed slightly to mean any words to any song.
