Do It Yourself was one of humanity's greatest achievements after New Boots And Panties in terms of overcoming the Difficult Second Album Syndrome.

Humanity's greatest achievement: it has survived its own folly into the first quarter of the 21st c. (so far).
Well, it's also been 234 years since the discovery of element 92. I used to wonder how long we'll make it before we off ourselves with it and if we'll even approach some kind of record for that.

Summer, Buddy Holly, the working folly
Good golly, Miss Molly and boats
Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet
Jump back in the alley and nanny goats
Eighteen wheeler Scammells, Dominica camels
All other mammals plus equal votes
Seeing Piccadilly, Fanny Smith and Willie
Being rather silly and porridge oats
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share ...[text shortened]... hn Coltrane's soprano, Adie Celentano
Beuno Colino

These are all reasons to be cheerful.
Not to be pedantic, as anyone who plays one saxophone can play them all, but John Coltrane was best at converting the tenor sax into a dream machine. The range of the soprano is too high for serious jazz, despite the efforts of johnnies-come-lately like Kenny G.

You don't count Wayne Shorter, for example, as a purveyor of serious jazz? 😲
