Yeah, but the studio version of no woman no cry is not very good (at least I think so). I like the live version a lot better (album appropriately titled Live!). 🙂
Yea, I had Confrontation on vinyl when it came out. Back then the only Marley song I never got tired of was: "Buffalo Soldier". You know: Oi oi oi, oi oi oi oi, oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi?
Originally posted by stockenPersonally speaking, I prefer the studio version by far - that's prolly cause that's the one I heard first.

Didn't like many of his other singles though - Kaya was good but I dunno if it was relesed as a single????
Originally posted by Dr StrangeloveYea, Tosh. His best would be "You can't fool me again", in my opinion, but he's done a lot of pretty good stuff. He was with the Wailers on the first album (Catch a fire) I think, singing: Slave Driver. Another great song.
Try Peter Tosh - was one of the Wailers with Marley. Went solo - pretty good too.
Too bad he was shot at 9/11-87. A great loss to the world.
Originally posted by stockenshame i think there is a vandetta on all the good ones, the bigger shame is there isnt any really good new musicians replacing them... if you look at the thread with the greatest songs they are all oldies pretty much, new music of today is going down hill fast, too many 15 minutes of fame people out there...

Here it is... the long expected *drumroll* my candidates to best song! *cymbal* ... *two clown horns*
1. Concierto de Aranjuez - Joaquín Rodrigo
2. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
3. Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd
4. No Rain - Blind Melon
5. Symphony No.9 "From the New World" - Antonin Dvorak
6. Jammin - Bob Marley
7. Misty - Brubeck & Getz
8. Utopia - Goldfrapp
9. Huapango - JP Moncayo
10. La Marseillaise - Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle
*slightly moves hat in gratitude before the cheering crowd*
😛
Edit. Special mentions to Wagner's "The Ride of the Valkyries" & Paco de Lucía's "Mediterranean Sundance - Río ancho"
Edit 2. After reading jimslyp69 post below, special mentions also for Mr. Hendrix for Purple Haze, B.B. King for Thrill is Gone and Eric Clapton for Cocaine 😵
All along the watchtower - hendrix version. Still makes me tingle inside everytime I hear it.
A live version of Still got the blues for you - Gary Moore. Kick arse solo in it
Don't fear the reaper - blue oyster cult. A song about death that's cheerful. Who would have thought it?!
Waiting in vain - Bob. Sad song but I love it
Comfortably numb - Floyd. One of Floyd's all time best
Inside - Stiltskin. Whatever happened to them? One belting tune then they seemed to pale into insignificance
I could go on all night but I won't. I have one game waiting.

SWEET NEO CON
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)
You call yourself a Christian
I think that you're a hypocrite
You say you are a patriot
I think that you're a crock of shit
And listen, I love gasoline
I drink it every day
But it's getting very pricey
And who is going to pay
How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con.... Yeah
It's liberty for all
...[text shortened]... well
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...
Neo con
Originally posted by stockenI kind of like Kite in a kooky way.
I like it for nostalgic reasons (memories). Besides, I don't really think it's nearly as terrible as some other things Kate has recorded, like Kite for instance.
But neither Constellation of the Heart or Kite could possibly compare to classics like Wuthering Heights, Babooshka, Running up that Hill, Cloudbusting or This Woman's Work.
Random songs that send thrills up my spine to add to the list. It's never going to be complete so let's just go with what I can think of right now.
Spark - Tori Amos
I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins
Woman in Chains - Tears for Fears
Why Should I Cry For You - Sting
Jealous Kind - Jars of Clay
All I Have - Tim Corley (none of you have ever heard of him, go to his myspace page)
It's My Life - originally Talk Talk, but I became obsessed with No Doubt's version
Let Down - Radiohead
I Believe - Marcella Detroit (perhaps the ultimate one-hit wonder)
