Around the edges of the outside of the metal bowl of my bong there is a bright blueish green crumb like stuff stuck to it.

Microbes mutating into sentient killer mosses. Most likely, anyways. My friend had the same thing once and we had to get the army in and everything. The only people who survived were myself and the nerdy yet handsome scientist who helped us formulate a plot to kill it.

actually it could be electrolysis occurring due to dissimilar metals which produces a green corrosion. Perhaps that could be your mystery substance.

Or it could be Verdigris...😛
