I would like to add though that I think there are many people who are unhappy with their jobs but their circumstances are such that it would not be possible for them to find better work elsewhere.

Might there be ways they could make the jobs they're stuck with more interesting?

I love what I do. I've had a myriad of jobs and occupations. I can't imagine doing anything more enjoyable and making a few bucks while I do it.

Oh wait, I'm not a porn star. 😞

The butcher I replaced had worked there for over 35 years. I work alone, in a basement prep room with no windows, and few visitors. You can go batty. He clued me into "playing games" You know make different cuts etc with the meat before cutting it further for grinding. I've built some marvelous meat displays in the past 12 years there.
Batty??
Years past that stage I'm afraid.

I would have loved to continue with this discussion but I have been called to the hospital - my little great-granddaughter is having stomach-problems. See you tomorrow.-

Or be a chess professional !! There isn't much said about how much an average GM makes a year.

Thank you, I'm back again. It doesn't seem serious - she seems to have belly-ache and eats very little so the doctor wanted to have a look to see what it might be. The parents were worried of course and needed some company.

A good friend I have teaches chess professionally just part time. He is no GM and lives quite comfortably but modestly on what he makes.
The topic has been brought to me before. I am too unconventional a player and too impatient and impersonal that...
