Come on you guys! Buy someone a star!

For just 4 cents a day, you could help sponsor a "Pawn Star".

Think about it.

I cannot wholeheartedly agree with you, Ivan. All the flags that I see on this site are American, European, Australian, South African, etc. I don't see any Haitian, Indian (India), Bangladesh, Laotian or many third world countries represented on this site. I could be wrong, ask Royal Chicken. I think if one can afford a computer, one can put up t ...[text shortened]... contribute to this site...this is just my humble opinion...have a nice day...Semper Paratus...😵
Would you be able or willing to spend a month's wage on a subscription?
'Cause that's what 15$ is for some people!Of course they are unlikely to have their own computer, but use a public one.

And those who can afford it but choose not to,well,I don't see anything wrong with that either.

Here is a suggestion. How about a membership drive for non-pawn stars? Everyone could "adopt" a person and buy them a star. Then Russ could have a "Surrogate Parent Tournament". Anyway, I think it is a good idea.

Of course, if all I made was 15.00 a month, I wouldn't put it towards a computer chess site. I would put food on the table. My post was not aimed at the world's destitute but at the "average income" computer user. The world's poor have more important things on their plate besides food, much less chess. I was referring to the multitudes that can afford the fee by giving up smokes for a couple of days, or who can put down the Nintendo, get off their lazy butts and mow a lawn or wash a neighbor's car and earn the amount to become a pawn star. Spending $$ one earns feels so much better than asking Dad or Mum, don't you think?...but since I'm such a loveable sod, I'll sponsor someone that REALLY CAN'T AFFORD it. If there is someone who honestly can't afford to be a pawn star but wishes to become one, send me an e-mail explaining your situation. I'll choose the best one out of the first ten responses...if I get 10 responses. Semper Paratus, ...chancrefixerupper. 😉

Go post that message in the "Sponsor a Star Orphan" Thread that Paulie made... I wonder if you will get any takers!?

Personaly, When I see some snoot puting up a challenge that says 1500+ I will always challenge. I am not saying your snooty (take no offence) I think we are all here to play chess. I was not a subscriber at first either but the people I played with were nice and never said anything to me. We need new blood and we should encourage them by showing we are not stuck up sneeches with stars upon ours by excluding the plain belly sneeches. Dr. Suess

I'm with you on that. Also, willatkins idea of the sponsorship thing and the surrogate parents tournament is a great idea. Same thing goes, e-mail me and we'll go from there.
