I've come over all suicidal after listening to that. I'm going to lie down for a few weeks.

Yes, thinking about what I did have, pulled me through. Changing my train of thought from 'Oh no look what I've lost' to 'But yes I still have all this to live for' significantly changed my perception of a crisis from despair to hope.
I'm sorry if you can't grasp this. In fact I'm not even asking you to grasp this principle. It's just how I am and the way I try to look at the world.
Still... this is very different than the thread's message, isn't it?

You have said nothing that supports the message in this thread.

I reiterated that point and got quite bored of doing so. I still maintain that this is how I look at things to drag me out of the S*** when things go wrong. This is how I look at it. I keep telling you this. Why do seem so hell bent on telling me that I am going about things the wrong way.
If you can't accept the way I deal with my feeling then tough olives mate. I'm not about to sit here and try to explain myself to you any more.

"Be thankful you have legs."

This is something you say to someone who thinks they have a problem. Not something you say to someone who does have a real problem.

That is my point. If this tactic works, you didn't really have a problem in the first place.

I bid you good day!

I never said that it should be said to someone else as words of comfort or to cheer them up. I said I use this frame of mind to cheer myself up. And once again I'll say it. I am allowed to talk to myself like this. If yuo don't like it, tough!
And yes, it is a good day.

What does one say to Tanni Grey-Thompson when she has a problem?

Well, again... if it works, you didn't really have a problem in the first place.

The other things you say are spot on... think of what you have, what you have done, what you have to look forward to. These things are fine and will help... and has nothing to do with this thread.

The title of the thread says it all. Bro Ed HAS never had anything bad happen to him.

Why don't you just answer his question?

When something really bad happens to you, do you use a tactic of thinking about something grisly which happened to somebody else to make you feel better? He's not asking if you dwell on problems, or whether you try to drag others down with you, or anything like that.

You're having digs at Phlab due to your lack of comprehension skills.

You appear to be quite the stoic Mr P.

Not a critique, just an observation.

Peace.

Perhaps you should think of the starving people in China.

Answer what bloody question? I have stated how I look at the world and how I deal with personal tragedy. Phlabby cannot accept how I look at the world and has a problem with this and is increasingly having digs at mejust because he cannot accept my outlook.
My outlook is my outlook and no one can tell me to change that.

Any reason why you picked China ? are the starving there more aesthetically pleasing ?
