does it slow down other programmes practically to a standstill?

Is it due to my own pc not being powerful enough or just the strength of the resources Nero needs to burn/copy at the time?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.

Any advice gratefully received.

I don't do ANYTHING else on my computer when Nero is running. I set myself up before bed and let it go.

There might be an option someplace in Nero letting Nero know how much of the computer resources should be allocated to running Nero, take a look around. I've given up on doing anything else while it's running on my 3.4 GHz P4 1GB Ram.

What is Nero? Perhaps you could set it on low priority if you have XP?
