Get it free if you must.

But keep in mind that the Registry is best left alone until it's necessary to "repair" something. It isn't worth the time. Very little of Windows' problems are.

Yeah, registry is the heart of windows and you can get in big time trouble screwing around with it. Does Linux or Apple have a registry analog? I am thinking it must.

Linux has no registry. Each program has their own configuration files (usually in the etc catalog), but there's no central registry.

What a blooming good idea! Why didn't Bill Gates think of this?

Are there any spyware software programs that find it and get rid of it for free or do you have to pay for all of them? I found one on download.com but that was just a free scan, it said I have 129 problems, so obviously I need them fixed.

There's free.

And then there's free.

Note: Don't believe everything you read.

Well, I just need a program to get rid of the problems I have now and then when I get some more money I can get Spy Doctor so I have a proper program to keep my PC clean. 🙂
Any suggestions?

Get rid of what? Spyware and adware?
These are two of the best and free for personal use.

Spybot @ http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
AdAware @ http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

If you are using windows you may as well get Windows Defender too.

Thanks, I have Ad-Aware Personal SE, also used to have Spybot but when I formatted my PC I didn't install it again, got AAP SE instead as I thought they did the same job, but thanks, I'll go get spybot again.

For Windows users:

Firewall
Anti-virus software
Spy Sweeper (shown to be the best single anti-spyware program)
Human intervention (clean out folders regularly, check running processes, restart Windows twice daily etc. etc.)

For Linux users:

N/A

Spysweeper is good but not free - apart from the trial.

Personally I would also recommend SpywareBlaster.

See my earlier post.

As I've said so many times before, I'm not in the habit of repeating myself.

Currently downloading Spyware Blaster 🙂 Thanks

It says it doesn't scan and get rid of it, it justs stops it from installing in the first place. I will try the other program you suggested and clean the crap I have already, then keep this one to stop it coming back.

Spy Sweeper does a much better job of this.

Much, much better.
