Other programs are typically not as good, no matter how many of them you install.
That's your opinion.

I've heard other opinions from experts too.

Regardless of which product is on top at the moment, a few months in the past or in the future one product may be better than another for a while then the competitor comes accros a newer signiture file and so it goes. What is king today may be left behind a year later. Using almost any anti spyware is better than using nothing. Using several is better than any one set.

So just use what you have. With any luck, each will have its turn as the best in the months or years to come.

Just saying they are in a dynamic state of developement, not that you should ignore the latest tests and not relying on just one,

Well that has confused me completely! 😕

I downloaded spysweeper, it told me I had 11 problems as I deleted all the crap cookies and stuff from earlier in the day with the search I did with Spy Doctor, (just looked at the list and went through the folders and deleted them). But my computer was so slow it wasn't worth it. Also had Spyware Blaster too so that was probably why. Spysweeper said I had to pay to get rid of the threats so I didn't bother and uninstalled it. I now am back to my Ad-Aware Personal SE and AVG Free anti virus software.

Don't forget Spybot search and destroy which is also free and is better than depending on just Ad Aware. Also to confuse you further, check out the bogus spyware list, I will link it shortly. Ok here is one:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
Great site.
BTW, you mentioned Spyware Blaster. Its listed there as a rogue spyware site. It is a takeoff of the real one, Spywareblaster, notice its all one word. Which one did you use?

Don't kid yourself, there are lots of attacks on Mac's, just not prevalent as the windows thing but don't be deluded into thinking you need nothing.

Seventeen years experience still going strong.
But sure, there is always an uncertain future...

We just made a bunch of posts here suggesting using just one won't do the job. Don't abandon Ad aware and just use spybot, use them both, I know for a fact one finds what the other doesn't but which is better seems to vary from week to week so use both!

Are you referring to a 30 day test drive? That would make sense to get out of immediate trouble.
If you mean go to some warez site and get one, you would not be able to get the latest definitions so would be stuck with whatever level was pirated. To say nothing of getting a virus and a couple keyloggers thrown in for free too.

Of course the kids deny deny deny but my main goal is just to get rid of this shite.
Leave your kids alone, it's only natural. Besides, who knows they went there?

edit, in fact this is actually really bothering me. You're going through a hell of a lot just to find the files. I mean, posting on a forum about this? You don't think you're going a little overboard? Even if you do what does it prove? Find something else to waste your time over, maybe you should visit these "sites" 😀 Maybe your kids saw something, it's gonna happen eventually 😉.
